It's been a minute since I was last able to post. For that, I'm sorry. I have been quite busy with the holiday rush of traveling and hosting family. I hope to get back to my blogging calendar, very soon.
In the meantime, here is a quilt that I designed and quilted, for someone very special to me. My husband. He graduated in December from Iowa State University with a Bachelor's of Science in Industrial Engineering! I AM SO VERY PROUD OF HIM!!!! VERY!!
He is always so supportive of me. In absolutely everything that I do. I couldn't make him just any old quilt. It had to be special.

I made up shapes of gears as I went and kind of had fun with it. I used my round templates and rulers with my rotary cutter. It actually came together quite quickly, even though, at the time, it didn't seem quick enough. I mean, I was trying to surprise him. This was the most hidden quilt I have ever done. Funny story on the gears. So my good new friend had a stitch and b*tch. Meaning, bring your projects and sew and talk. I actually had an opportunity to meet a lot of new people as I am new to town. Anyhow, this dummy thought wine and a rotary cutter would go well. Thank heavens, I didn't think that for long. The wine was good, the conversations, and seeing people work was great. My project didn't get very far that night, but it was worth it for a nice wind down.
When I finally had all the gears done, I opted to apply them as raw edge , so then eventually they will show there wear. I quilted the half square triangle border with a simple meander. The inside of the quilt, I wanted movement to give the gears some motion, but something that could be done quick. Again, I was still trying to hide the quilt. I opted for an allover of various sized swirls. In the end, I as really happy with it, and when the weather gets a bit nicer, I'll take a picture of it outside with some natural light. The best thing of all, he loved it and almost a month later, he's still using it in his man cave!
Until the next time, which will be a lot sooner...
